This song centers on themes of Spiritual Rebirth and Redemption found in Jn. 3:1-16. It emphasizes the necessity of being “Born of the Spirit” to see the Kingdom of GOD. It describes this as a profound inner transformation where one moves from a sinful nature to a new HOLY nature in-Christ. There is a direct connection between John 3:14-16 and the Old Testament account of Moses lifting up the bronze Snake in the wilderness. Just as the Israelites looked to the pole to be healed from the Snake bites, believers in-Christ look to Jesus to be saved from the “Snake bite” of Sin and the sting of death inherited from Adam. The song emphasizes that Jesus Christ is Lord and that through faith in Him, human individuals are saved and restored (not angels or their Nephilim children, because angels were not born in the image of GOD, and have not been reborn in-Christ).
The song is based upon John 3:1-16. The context is Jesus’ night encounter with the Jewish high priest Nicodemus, teaching him that everyone must be born again spiritually to experience eternal life. John 3:1-16 is about the importance of being born again in spirit through faith in Jesus Christ in order to inherit eternal life. Jesus emphasizes the concept of spiritual rebirth central to Christian theology. Being 'Born Again' is a complete transformation and renewal of one’s inner being, from having a sinful nature, to being reborn with a Holy, Righteous, and Sinless spiritual nature. This a profound change into the New Creature in-Christ, rather than surface-level adjustments of the Old Man. Jesus mentions being born of “water and the Spirit” (Jn. 3:5) symbolizing the dual aspects of cleansing (water, often associated with baptism) and empowerment (the Holy Spirit) in the process of being born again.
In John 3:14–15 Jesus says, “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” By looking at the snake on the pole, the Israelites acknowledged their sin, repented of their rebellion, and turned to God in faith to save and heal them. Similarly, our salvation happens when we look up to Jesus, believing he will save us from our sinful nature (inherited from Adam's snake bite). Jesus removes the sting of death and preserves us from the “snakebite“ of Satan, that old serpent (see Rev. 12:9).
