THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRIST(MASS) ~ Gathering Christians together for a Mission-!
The word for Christmas in late Old English is Cristes Maesse or “Mass of Christ.” The Latin word for Mass (missa) first established itself as the general designation for the Eucharistic (Communion) Sacrifice in the West after the time of Pope Gregory the Great in 540 A.D. However, the Early Church for the first three hundred years of Christianity used the expression “the breaking of bread,” (Acts 2:42), to denote the Eucharist (Greek word for Mass). Other terms were also used in the early days of Christianity such as: “The Lord’s Supper, the Sacrifice, and the gathering together.” Mass comes from the Latin word missa. Missa is a Latin word that comes from an earlier Latin word: mittere, which means "to send off or dismiss." Mittere is also the same root word that gives us our English words: "mission," and "commission.” "Ite, Missa est" comes at the end of Catholic Mass, during what is called "the dismissal rite." It's the part of the mass where we are sent back into our daily lives. So translating Ite, Missa est, it means: "Go, you're being sent on a mission," or "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord." It's the “Great Com - mission” that Christ entrusted to his disciples: "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8).
These words, and similar ones in Jn. 20:21, Mt. 28:19-20 and Mk. 16:15 — tell us that the Lord commissioned his disciples to proclaim the Gospel, the Good News of the Kingdom, to everyone, in every place and time. Considering the above, since:
1. The original name of 'Christmas' comes from the phrase “Mass of Christ,” (Christ - Mass).
2. The word “Mass” is derived from the terms “the gathering together of Christians on a mission from Christ, then historically:
3. The first Mass gathering of Christians or Christmas was empowered by the earthly invasion of the Holy Ghost to proclaim the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. This occurred on Pentecost - The Churches Birthday.
THE FIRST ~ MASS of CHRIST
“But you will receive power when the Holy Ghost comes on you ...” (Acts 1:8)
We may want to consider that the first “Mass of Christ” or Christmas occurred on Sunday, May 30, 30 A.D., 8:30 a.m. This is when Jesus Christ - who had ascended into Heaven, sent the Holy Ghost (The Third Godhead of the Trinity) to invade planet earth and REGENERATE the hearts and minds of the 11 Apostles and the 120 disciples of Christ. They were first baptized by the fire of the Holy Ghost at this time. The Apostles and the disciples had all been camping out and praying all night together in a private home in a secret upper room that they had rented in Jerusalem for the last eleven days just as Jesus had instructed. All of a sudden, the disciples heard a loud roaring sound coming from outside that grew louder and louder and that rocked the upper room: “Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them,” (Acts 2:2-4).
GOD SENT US THE FIRST CHRIST-MAS GIFT (The Holy Spirit)-!
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the Gift my Father promised,” (Acts 1:4)
Our Heavenly Father sent all of us the first Christmas gift on the day of Pentecost - the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:4-5). Jesus gave us all - His gift (Blood DNA) of Life that made this all possible, and the Holy Spirit has in turn regenerated the Church (Gods People) with the following seven (7) Spiritual Gifts. The Bible teaches that there are seven (7) basic gifts of the Holy Ghost and seven (7) fruits of the Holy Ghost. In the book of Romans we are called to be faithful to the gift given us. Not everybody has the same gift, but God distributes the gifts among the body, that we may all have a part in building up the Body of Christ - his Church. In Romans 12:4-8, Paul lists the seven (7) basic gifts: “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is (1) Prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is (2) Serving, then serve; if it is (3) Teaching, then teach; if it is (4) Encouraging, then give encouragement; if it is (5) Giving, then give generously; if it is (6) Leading, do it diligently; if it is (7) Showing Mercy, do it cheerfully.” The Holy Ghost is the living divine teacher in the heart of every believer. He is the ongoing presence of Jesus preserving what he taught and interpreting it anew in every generation (1 Jn. 2:27). https://NewChristMan.com
